Weekly Betting Roundup for January 17-23, 2011

January 25th 2011

B. Sharps / Head Linesman / Legends

Monday started out a very busy week in the baskets so let’s get right into it. In the NBA, the house picked up some nice wins to start the week with Washington +4.5, Phoenix +6, and Charlote +5.5. The players countered with Chicago +5, the LA Clippers -3.5, the LA Lakers -4.5, and the Boston game landing on 3 to battle back and even out the day, but the house won a critical late game when the Timberwolves +7.5 went down to secure a winning day in the NBA. College was a much slower day; UConn falling 2 hurt a little but Kansas covering the 4.5 against Baylor was great for the house as a big syndicate took the +4.5 and the house made some money on college basketball for the day.

Tuesday the players made a little headway with the house winning on Nebraska -4, Georgetown -4, Illinois -5, and North Carolina -5.5. The house made a small profit with Tennessee and Alabama, both +5.5. Not much action as I said earlier.

Wednesday in NBA the house had wins with New Jersey +6.5 and the LA Clippers -7.5; the players countered with Phoenix -7, Portland -1.5, and Dallas +3.5 (syndicate game), NBA was a push for the night. The players had the best of it in college hoops winning with Louisville -7, Notre Dame -4, and Duke and over while the house picked up a nice win on Florida State +2 against Miami Florida (syndicate game) which helped the house a little. With all the action though on a Wednesday the house did ok with all the volume, that is one of the keys to baskets: you want to write as much action as you can without giving up too many bets at the peak numbers of a game. It sounds easy but it isn’t at times.

Thursday the players had another good day winning in the NBA with Portland -3 and Chicago -3.5 and also winning in college with USC -7 and Santa Clara +8.5 (another big syndicate game). The house won with Virginia Tech +6.5, which was a big decision or the day would have been a bust!

Friday was an odd day with two 40-point blowouts in the NBA with Orlando and New Orleans, first time that’s ever happened. The house split those two games winning obviously the New Orleans +4 with both teams coming back on Saturday to cover the spread again. In other NBA games on Friday the players won with Milwaukee -6.5, San Antonio (9) and Golden State (7) landing on the number. Once again the players had a good day in the NBA, where the only house winner was with Boston -6 as the players went for Utah – the dog – in that game.

Saturday is always a nonstop action day. I work about 14 hours and it literally flies by with all the action and numbers moving constantly, you can’t even breathe until the 2:00 pm EST games go. You either love doing this job or hate it, luckily for me I LOVE IT!!! Now on to the results for Saturday: the players started out with a small upper hand in the NBA winning with Orlando -1 and Portland (5) landing on the number and then picking up huge wins on two syndicate games with Washington +6 and New Orleans +2. The house countered with New Jersey +5, Detroit +1, and Cleveland +15 to ease the pain a little, but not much. In college hoops the house won with OSU -3.5 (syndicate game), Texas +7.5, Michigan State +6, and Texas Tech +3.5 while the players came back with Villanova +6, Texas A&M -5, Mississippi State -4, Cincinnati +2, UCLA -7 (syndicate game), Kent -8, and Missouri -9.5 to draw ahead of the books as for big wins and losses but the house won the battle with all the volume to come out a small winner for the day.

The Sunday NFL games went exactly as the players wanted and they are smiling now after smashing all books. The players easily tagged both winners with Green Bay and Pittsburgh to make it a clean sweep in the NFL games. The only thing the books salvaged was the Green Bay total or it would have been worse. The late scores by the Bears and Jets knocked out any hope of a profit for the books, unless they don’t take teasers! Well, it’s on to the Super Bowl and that’s it for another so-so NFL season. In Sunday baskets the players won the only NBA game with Denver and over to secure the players winning on all pro sports for the day. In college basketball the house won with Wisconsin -2 (NW syndicate game) and Illinois State -1.5 while the players won with NC State (landed 2) for their only significant win in the baskets, but the day belonged to the players!

Notes:
Baskets is the one sport  where wise guys can over run the public on a game for total volume, something that doesn’t happen hardly at all in the football.

I just briefly want to describe my use of the word ‘syndicate’. It’s nothing sinister, but instead of naming a specific group that moves large amounts of money on games, I’ll just use the term ‘syndicate’ to cover all bases. It could be any of the big groups.

Good luck players! Talk to you next week.
